PGN to former senator filed charges Ciro Ramirez Pinzon

The Attorney General's Office, Alejandro Ordóñez Maldonado, file charges against former Senator Ciro Ramírez Pinzón, for allegedly promoting and collaborating with illegal armed groups, specifically the United Self-Defense of Colombia.

According to the evidence, the former senator since 2000 maintained a relationship and collusion with paramilitary groups, with whom, as a congressman, allegedly met multiple times in an attempt to reach agreements that will represent mutual benefit.

For the prosecution, the wiretapping and abundant testimony to infer that the former senator Pinzon Ramirez agreed to the public with the support of the illegal group called Defense Forces of Colombia, and formally and materially participated in the consolidation of illegal interests this armed organization.

The Office seeks to establish whether his conduct contributed from the excongresista institutions in the promotion of paramilitary groups, as with Henry de Jesus Lopez Londoño, alias 'My Blood', former commander of the Capital Bloc of the AUC, in a relationship held until 2006.

In formulating the statement of objections, the Control Authority reported that the link with the member of the illegal organization and Rodrigo Perez Alzate alias Julián Bolívar continued to have materialized before demobilization conducted by the National Government in Santa Fe de Ralito, in order to make space for it to do in terms suitable for the illegal group.
